Keith Allen Harward

Keith Allen Harward happened to be a member of the US Navy when he was wrongly accused of murdering a man and raping his wife in their home in September of 1982. The attacker was said to have been wearing a Navy uniform, so when police arrived at the scene and would hear the evidence, they would head straight to where an E-3 rank aircraft carrier was stationed. One of the security guards told police that he had allegedly seen Harward come back on deck in a blood-splattered uniform that very same night.

Basing It On Dental Records

Strangely, the victim of the rape had bite marks all over her legs, which the rapist had also caused during his brutal attack. Sadly at the time, Harward had a girlfriend who also reported that he had bit her once during an incident. So investigators did what they thought was best by following this lead in getting the proper evidence. They would arrest Harward and would have two very highly acclaimed forensic ‘bite mark’ specialists check out Harward’s dental records, as well as other Navy members, to see whose dentures matched the bite marks on the victim’s legs. They would claim that Harward’s were a unquestionable match. Incredibly, Harward would be tried twice, but both times he would be convicted where his second trial he was found guilty of first-degree murder, rape and sodomy. And for the 33-years that he was imprisoned, he would continue to proclaim his complete and total innocence.
