Tried As An Adult

Despite the fact that Truscott was just a teenager at the time of the crime, and that he claimed his innocence the entire time the trial went on, he would still be tried as an adult. The prosecution claims that he hadn’t dropped her off but he had actually taken her into the woods, sexually assaulted her and then strangling her to death. He would spend 10 years in jail, finally getting a decade later on parole, but the entire time he had been working on clearing his name.

A Huge Compensation

Although it would take years, Truscott’s case would be taken on by The Association in Defense of the Wrongly Convicted, which would eventually turn up evidence that would finally clear his name. It would be found that Lynne had been killed during a time that Truscott could not have done the murder. Finally, after 4 decades of working to clear his name from this entire case, Steven Truscott was declared guilt free of any wrongdoing in the death of Lynne Harper. He was later on compensated by the government, receiving a little over $5 million for the false conviction which basically ruined his life for over 50 years.
