Requesting For Help

Although insurance would foot the crazy $500,000 bill that it would cost to do the transplant, there were many other expenses that the family had to incur. Just traveling back and forth from Tennessee to Chicago proved more than what their wallets could handle. They put up a Facebook page that allowed people to help them out. They were aiming to get $75,000 but they were able to raise $45,000. Jesse had said, “Any leftover money would be available to Brooklyn her entire life, to cover anything that insurance might not.“

Getting The Call

On some twist of fate, on February 24, Nick and Jesse received their miracle phone call from the hospital saying that they had found a match, for now 2-year-old Brooklyn. Jesse called Nick at work and said, “I don’t know any other way to say this, but we got the call.”
