14. San Bernardino, California
The second worst city to reside in in the west coast state of California, San Bernardino’s 29.4% poverty rate is reflective of how difficult it is financially to live in the city. The lack of viable employment has been blamed for this, leaving 7.3% of its adult workforce sitting idle. Crime has been the sole reason for businesses and employers avoiding the area, with rates triple that of the average nationwide.
