It was supposedly North Korea’s first official successful satellite launch, as the others had failed before that. It put everyone, especially the countries close by like South Korea, Japan and even the United States, on edge. And they didn’t stop there.

In 2013, North Korea launched its 3rd nuclear test, supposedly Kim Jong-un’s first nuclear test as leader of North Korea. It was said that he did it in defiance of the Chinese, who had warned the young leader, who had only been in power for 2 years, that he might not be able to handle the global impact of his actions. Of course, he didn’t listen and would go on to test more.
