It’s been reported that the North Korean military has 5 different branches, which consist of the Ground Force, the Air Force, the Strategic Rocket Forces and the Navy. Plus the Worker-Peasant Red Guards are also part of their army. And these are all manned by supposedly 25% of the entire North Korean population. This also suggests that the military is one of, if not the most, important segments of North Korean life.

According to Newsweek, “North Korea has 3,500 tanks, 72 submarines, 302 helicopters, 563 combat aircraft and 21,100 pieces of artillery.” And, although this may seem incomparable to the likes of Russia and the United States, it’s still enough to cause major alarm, especially when all this artillery belongs to such an unpredictable dictatorship. And if they have all these weapons of mass destruction, it makes us wonder even more, what else could they be hiding?
