On October 23, a Chinese photojournalist named Lu Guang, boarded a plane to Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Autonomous region which is known to have the largest concentration of Chinese muslims, with over a quarter of the population belonging to such group. Mr. Lu was set to attend photography events there and later fly to Sichuan for a charity event.
He never made it to Sichuan.
