8. Protects Against Cancer

Studies have suggested that vitamin D helps protect against cancer, as well as improves the chances of survival in patients with the disease. Vitamin D, together with its byproducts, does this by slowing down the spread and growth of cancer cells, reducing the chances of cancer cells to thrive.
Some of the type of cancers that vitamin D fights against are breast cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, and ovarian cancer. Higher intake of the vitamin has been observed to improve survival rate in patients with the dreaded disease, particularly those with the ovarian kind.
