Determined to prove the story right

Klaus hoped to find something significant for Daniel to show in his class. If not the entire plane, both father and son were hoping to find even just a piece of the old plane to prove their ancestor’s story about what took place on their very own land.

A surprising discovery

At last, their persistence turned up something huge: a Luftwaffe Messerschmitt Bf 109, which was broken into thousands of pieces. By their estimates, the plane’s fragments number to about 5,000. Some pieces remained in large pieces, like the Daimler-Benz plane engine. And with the wreckage were the human remains they found earlier, which were from the plane’s pilot.
