Brand Owns The BBC (And Thinks 9/11 Was An Inside Job)

Russell Brand- comedian, actor and thorn in the side of the establishment- has once again hit the headlines by calling on people to start a revolution, and implying that the September 11 attacks were carried out by the Bush administration.

In an interview on Newsnight (a very respectable TV show about current affairs in Britain), Brand states his case for overthrowing the Capitalist system and supporting grass-roots movements that challenge the government and big business.

But the comment that won him plenty of criticism was his stance on the 9/11 attacks, which Brand has written about in his new book Revolution. This book is a call to arms for us to rise up and rebel against the system, which has been fiercely attacked on both sides of the pond by right-wingers who are furious about Brand saying there´s no point even voting.

“What I think is interesting is the relationship that the Bin Laden family have had for a long time with the Bush family,” Brand says when asked whether he believes the official story that Al-Quaeda blew up the twin towers.  “Do YOU trust the American government?” he fires back at the interviewer as things get heated.

If you like this cheeky Brit, you´ll be cheering him on from your sofa. If you hate him, he´ll probably give you more reason to throw things at the screen. Russell Brand is a very divisive character, that´s true- but even if his hair, make up and tendency to call the interviewer ´mate´annoy you, it´s sometimes very difficult to disagree with his points on society, corruption and big business. Tell us what you think in the comments!
