ByFusion’s Blockers Is The Perfect Way Of Turning Trash Into Building Materials

What do you do to the non-recyclable trash that’s no longer used? Easy. Find a way to make these useful again. After all, we’re constantly searching for ways to recycle garbage and save the world from pollution. The problem is that not everyone is capable of coming up with the perfect solution.

Dumpsites are now filled with trash that may take years, or even centuries, to dissolve. While some of the items found there are biodegradable, many are, unfortunately, not. Rather than just let these materials sit, a company named ByFusion has decided to do something about it.

For ByFusion, recycling doesn’t always require a process of chemically separating things into component parts. Nor does it mean the creation of new life for an old object. For them it could simply mean finding new ways to use something old. For this LA-based startup, they are showing how landfills don’t need to be dug for plastics. These non-biodegradable materials can be smashed tightly enough to create a whole new block. If you’re familiar with Minecraft, the end-product resembles the blocks found in the game.

A total of 103 tons of nonrecyclable plastics have now been diverted from entombment since the company had begun. This is a big leap and in the long run, the impact will be beneficial to all. ByFusion has managed to patent their machines that are also known as “Blockers.” These said blockers come with a simple yet extremely smart design.

What ByFusion does is shred the plastic before applying mass multiplied by acceleration many times over until these turn into “nonrecyclable plastic” that is packed so tight that it fuses. Composite plastics have already pushed forward the world standard of living. However, these may be unrecyclable, which is why the blockers have become the perfect solution.

People have been trying to develop thermal or chemical methods of separating the polymers time and again just so that they can be recycled. ByFusion, on the other hand, has managed to avoid this issue by simply removing the middleman and simply turning the material as is into a new, composite, and extremely durable block that’s perfect for construction.

These blockers are otherwise known as “ByBlocks.” The design is simple – it’s a 16x8x8 shape which can be utilized to build bus stops, fences, retaining walls, curtain walls, public terraces, and so much more. The company’s full-service operation in LA has the ability to process 450 tons of plastic each year and turn these into blocks. At this point, they hope to install 12 more Blockers soon.

In order to go big, ByFusion has partnered with cities across the country. They have businesses in the island of Kauai, to Boise in Idaho. Their goal is to gather as many blockers and deliver it to those who have need of them.

The best part about these blockers is that they don’t discriminate. This means that they can turn any kind of plastic, even the fishing nets fisherman have disposed of, into blocks that contain the same material properties. Its only limitations are polystyrene or Styrofoam.

The ByBlocks don’t use adhesive glue, mortar, or any kind of extra substance at all. This means that If 22 pounds of plastic go into the machine, then a 22-pound block comes out.

The machines used come in two sizes, the first one for industry use, and the second one for community use. The latter is delivered via a shipping container. The former comes with an array of blockers for corporations that really make use of a plastic waste and at the same time need it.
