A devastating and revealing call

Within an hour, the family finally knew for certain what was going on, although for no apparent reason. Richard phoned and all he said was, “I can’t live this way anymore. I feel you would be better off without me,” and hung up without giving Linda a chance to ask questions. He called back and said he didn’t want to go to jail and that he’s never coming back home. On that day, Richard completely disappeared, leaving no trace of his whereabouts.

Unclear where he was

A few days later, Richard’s car was found abandoned. They called the airlines, but flight records show no evidence of him ever leaving the country or going anywhere. He called home a couple more times, which gave away his locations. One of his calls was made in Aruba. The other was from Venezuela.
