Elisa Lam was traveling alone from her hometown in Vancouver, Canada, to Los Angeles, California. She stayed at the historic Cecil Hotel in downtown L.A. where, days later, she was reported missing. What happened to her was one of the most mysterious cases of disappearances. Even more mysterious are the events that took place leading up to her disappearance and to her eventual discovery.

The mystery began at the Cecil Hotel, which is now called Stay on Main hotel in Los Angeles, California. The hotel is historic and is widely known for the events that took place there since it began operating in 1927. For the purpose of this story, we’ll refer to the place as Cecil Hotel from this point forward.
