Get your tissues handy, as this just might be the sweetest marriage proposal of the year. During a gondola ride in Venice, a Swedish former Olympic diver had the pleasure of saying “yes” to his German boyfriend who surprised him with a ring.
Earlier in July, bodybuilder Patrick Huber refused to tell his lover where they were going when they left their home in Munich by car. After hours of travel, they finally arrived in Venice, Italy, a place Olympian Jimmy Sjödin had always wanted to visit.
What Sjödin didn’t know is that Huber also arranged to have a travel photographer from Flytographer secretly take snaps of their romantic adventure. When the duo set off on a gondola ride on the Venetian Lagoon, Patrick felt the time was right and asked Sjödin to marry him.
“I had no idea or clue that this could or would be an engagement trip,” Jimmy told the Huffington Post.
The couple will be married in the German Alps on May 28, 2018 — exactly two years to the day they began dating. Because their love is inspiring to many, the photographs have gone viral. You can find Jimmy and Patrick on Instagram.
Following are adorable photos of the happy pair:
