Harold Henthorn grew up in Washington, D.C. and studied at the James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He eventually ended up in Kentucky where he took up business and geology. While on a trip to Colorado, he decided he wanted to live there after seeing the gorgeous and rugged terrain of the Rocky Mountains. And it would be here that he would end up meeting his second wife, Toni Bertolet.
