Kindhearted Barbers Spend Their Weekends Cutting Hair for The Homeless

Barber Mark Bustos recently hit the headlines for his generosity after sharing photos on his Instagram account of how he spends his weekends: cutting the hair of New York´s homeless.

With 64,000 people living on the streets in NYC, these small acts of kindness can make all the difference.  For the past two years, Bustos has spent his Sundays telling people on the streets “I want to do something nice for you today”, while his girlfriend brings food for the clients.

Bustos aims to inspire others, saying that “every human life is worth the same; we all deserve a second chance.” The stylist, who works for a high-class salon in the city, has over 100,000 Instagram followers and uses the hashtag #BeAwesomeToSomebody.

This feel-good video features another kind-hearted barber called Glen, who like Bustos, believes that something as small as a haircut can really change lives:  “It´s my way of giving back”, he says humbly. As if that wasn´t enough, Glen even takes the shirt off his own back when one client admits he has no clothes.

These two men are an inspiration to us all, and the quote at the end of the video really sums up these wonderful deeds:  “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give”.
