Michael Is Stronger Than Katrina
Meteorologists at the National Hurricane Center has reported that hurricane Michael, which made landfall on the northern coast of Florida, is the third-strongest hurricane in US history. It is even stronger than hurricane Katrina, albeit just by the slightest of margins, which devastated the area in 2005. The barometric pressure used to gauge these low-pressure systems’ strength and intensity, which places the average air pressure at sea level at 1,000mb, saw Michael being lower by 1 millibar at 919mb compared to Katrina’s 920mb.
