Seen above is a wall of dust crawling over Phoenix, Arizona in July of 2011. This dust storm, called a haboob, is an intense dust storm that can occur regularly in dry land regions and are carried on an atmospheric gravity current. The one above was brought about by severe thunderstorms near Tucson, Arizona and extended an approximate 1.5-1.8 kilometers in height and 160 kilometers in width.
