42.) Russia is continuously working on military modernization.

According to General Phillip Breedlove, Supreme Allied Commander and military head of NATO, during the last 20 years Russia has analyzed U.S. military operations, “…has established a doctrine and force to effectively counter perceived U.S. and NATO strengths”, and continues to work on long-term military modernization efforts. Russian alarming increase in expeditionary power projection, combat and logistical sustainment capability and buildup of air defenses jeopardize the access of NATO to air space in one-third of the skies in Poland and a big part of Europe.

Since the operation against Georgia in 2008 the Russian military has grown enormously and routinely runs large-scale snap exercises with forces from all services that number between 40-100,000.
