Planting Evidence
Although the reverend would later on claim that he didn’t premeditate this, his plan surely had the feeling like it had been thoroughly strategized. After killing Matheney, he would then drive to Matheney’s house and park his own car just a couple of blocks away. He would then plant clues for the police to ‘find,’ such as his own credit card, which had Matheney’s fingerprints from when he went to get gas for their fishing trip, as well as a beer bottle and a towel, which had some of Terry’s blood on it, and even Matheney’s fishing tackle. Apparently, the reverend had cut off Matheney’s arm so he could use his hand to leave fingerprints where he wanted.
