Within the 120-year existence of the Charles Street Jail, several individuals have “come and go,” so to speak, including this group that was freed in 1932. According to LibertyHotel.com, the hotel’s official website, Memorial Day weekend 1990 marked a new beginning for Charles Street Jail as the last batch of inmates were transferred to the new prison in Suffolk County. The government called for the preservation of the building, which eventually led to the rise of The Liberty Hotel.
