Her Parents Talk To van der Sloot

As soon as Natalee’s parents arrive in Aruba, they question van der Sloot about the night Natalee went missing. He explained that when he dropped her off at the hotel, there was a black man, supposedly who worked for one of the nearby hotels, who was seen advancing towards Natalee. But according to van der Sloot, that’s all he saw. Authorities questioned two separate men regarding this statement, but the men were quickly released when it was obvious to authorities that they had nothing to do with the case.
Intensifying Their Search

With support coming from the United States, more than $20,000 was raised in order to supplement the continued search for Natalee. Even Condoleezza Rice, who was the U.S. Secretary Of State at the time, said that the U.S. was in contact with the authorities in Aruba at all times, while another official had explained, “Substantial resources are being applied to this as they [Aruba officials] continue to ask for more.”
