If you spend time in sports bars or at sporting events, more often than not you’ll see poor winners and losers. Competition has driven a wedge between people to the point that they rarely feel empathy while celebrating their team’s victories.
Fortunately, a young Portuguese boy hasn’t lost touch with his humanity and exhibited the type of compassion our world needs more of earlier this year when Portugal beat France 0-1 during the Euro 2016 soccer tournament.
While he and his compatriots celebrated Portugal’s victory, supporters of the French team broke down, heartbroken. It would have been easy to ignore their struggle, particularly one man who was taking the defeat quite hard, but a young Portuguese boy decided instead to approach him and offer some consolation.
You can view in the video below how he approaches the crying man and offers a handshake and a hug. The compassionate young activist even waits until the man leaves before continuing his celebration.
