Entering The Underworld

Cristian Lascu was the very first person to ever delve into this mysterious and unbelievably ancient and ominous cave. Donning a heavy-duty suit to supply oxygen and protection in the never before explored cave, he went down a very narrow tunnel into the darkness. The shaft heading down was “an ochre clay coated limestone tunnel,” which led to a “central cavern opening into a lake.” And in the darkness, it was a tepid 25 degrees Celsius.

Staying Below The Surface

Cristian Lascu, who is seen on the left, is one of less than 100 people who have ever been below the surface and into the Movile Cave. And like his fellow explorers, he was extremely curious to find out what exactly was inside the 5.5 million-year-old marvel. Supposedly, the cave can only be accessed for around 5 to 6 hours before certain body parts begin to give in. This only allowed him a bit of time to explore the confines of the cave at a time, and that’s exactly what he did.
