On November 24, 1971, a man arrived at a ticket counter and bought a one-way ticket from Portland, Oregon to Seattle on Northwest Orient Airlines. He was assumed to be in his early 40’s, and probably an executive, going on a business trip. He was described to be wearing a black suit, a white shirt and a black tie with an impressionable pearl tie clip.
