The Only Evidence Left Behind

Brooke’s disappearance was only confirmed by the cleaning supplies and torn up slippers left behind. It would seem, from one the broken slippers, that there was a struggle. Her sister, getting frantic at not being able to find her anywhere said, “I got very nervous… we had exhausted every possibility, we had searched all the apartments that she could possibly be working in. We looked everywhere. Then we called the police.”

Brooke’s Considered Missing

The Oak Park Apartments were located near Oregon State University, so police started off their search looking into other possible connected cases. When detectives Houck and Wood had first heard about the case, they originally thought that they were just dealing with a runaway student. But after seeing the evidence and the torn slipper, they knew they were dealing with something much more ominous. Detective Houck had even said, “This wasn’t normal – this doesn’t happen here. This is real.”
