Crawford’s apparent death made an impact on the lives of the men who saw him that day. He was quick on his feet and was valiant enough to go above and beyond what was expected of him. The medal he earned was given to his father in 1944, the year before a miracle happened.

In Reality

One year after the reward was given to Crawford’s father, American soldiers held in captivity by Germans were discovered and rescued during a mission. Crawford had been one of them. He returned home and joined his family. The war was over and opted to move on with his life as quietly as possible.
