A painful and costly legal battle
Betsy’s daughters fought a painful and costly legal battle in an attempt to recover Betsy’s $150,000 insurance proceeds from Pam. Unfortunately, they lost the fight and was even ordered to pay Pam’s legal fees. First, they had to endure the terrible ordeal of losing their mother in a gruesome murder. Then, they had to go through financial difficulty, which they had no control over.
Two years wasted in prison
Russell spent two years in prison before he was acquitted. His retrial, which did not call Pam to testify and where Russell’s defense attorneys presented four alibi witnesses- shed new light on the case. It was revealed that Pam was the last person to see Betsy alive. And to make matters even more complicated, a detective testified that, according to Pam, she and Betsy had been lovers.
