Gumpenberger’s death at the hands of Pam Hupp would later set off investigations into her past- starting with the death of Pam’s mother in 2013. According to reports, Pam’s mom died right before the first trial in the Betsy Faria murder case took place. The reports stated that she fell from a third-floor balcony, but tests conducted by the St. Louis County Medical Examiner showed that there were high levels of Ambien in her system.
