Mentally and physical impaired
It was also later revealed that Gumpenberger suffered a traumatic brain injury caused by a car accident in 2005, which left him mentally and physically impaired. As a result, his mental and physical abilities became limited and he had a slurred speech. He did not drive, nor did he have income. He was supposed to have an interview for a job he was applying for at a company that helps persons with disabilities on the day he was killed. He left behind two children.
“Get Russ’ money”
Police say that Pam tried to blame Russell for her encounter with Gumpenberger. When responding officers arrived at the crime scene, Pam repeatedly denied knowing who Gumpenberger was prior to the encounter. She said that he repeatedly told her that he wanted her to go with him to the bank to get Russ’ money. She said that she didn’t know what Gumpenberger was talking about and that she didn’t know anyone who goes by the name “Russ.”
