Henry Lucas, also known as the “The Confession Killer” and “The Highway Stalker,” achieved notoriety for confessing to the murder of 60 people, then raised it to a hundred, and eventually to 3,000. Even though he only had an IQ of 89, he was able to convince authorities that they cleared over 200 unsolved cases because of his confession. He even got preferential treatment during this time, but lost credibility when his victim count grew higher and higher. This made it quite impossible to determine how many his victims really were, but he was convicted of murdering 11 people, including his mother, who was allegedly his first victim. He was even associated with another serial killer named Ottis Toole. His death sentence was lowered to life imprisonment, and he died in prison due to heart failure in 2001.
