John Wayne Gacy was a homosexual serial killer who was responsible for the murder and rape of 33 teenage boys and young men between 1972 and 1978. Dubbed “The Killer Clown” for performing at birthday parties as Pogo the Clown, he reportedly sometimes even dressed the part when he killed. With an IQ of 118, he had established a career as a building contractor and was also active in political organizations. He was able to lure his victims, mostly to his home with promises of construction work, where he had a trapdoor leading to the crawl space underneath, where he buried most of his victims. He was eventually placed under surveillance and the remains of his victims were discovered upon a house search. He was arrested and given the death sentence, and in 1994, was executed by lethal injection.
