Joachim Kroll was a German serial killer known as the “Ruhr Cannibal”, “Ruhr Hunter”, and the “Duisburg Man-Eater.” He was known to have killed at least 14 people, all women or young girls except one. He began sowing terror in 1955, with his victims mostly strangled, raped, and mutilated, as Kroll not only engaged in necrophilia, but cannibalism as well. But despite having an IQ of only 76, and not even finishing primary school, he wasn’t caught until after 20 years as his killings were pretty spread out and there were other killers active during his time. He was caught when he mentioned to his neighbor that his plumbing was clogged with guts, and in 1982, after having confessed to his crimes, was given several life sentences. He died in a German prison in 1991.
