Richard Trenton Chase was known as “The Vampire of Sacramento” who killed six people in a span of one month. His IQ of 95 was about the only thing normal in Richard as he got institutionalized at age 25 due to paranoid schizophrenia, wherein he tried to drink the blood of birds he killed. This behavior escalated after his release, and in late December of 1978, the vampire was unleashed. He was reported to not just have drunk the blood of his victims, but also butchered, ate the organs, and sodomized one of them, while shooting a 6-year-old boy in the head twice and decapitating a 22-month-old child. The authorities even found human brains in his fridge prior to his capture. Chase was sentenced to death but ultimately committed suicide in 1980 while awaiting his execution at the San Quentin Prison in California.
