Charlene Gallego, along with her husband, Gerald, was the husband and wife tandem dubbed as “The Love Slave Killers” who were responsible for killing ten people in Sacramento, California between 1978 and 1980, including nine women who were sexually assaulted before being killed. Charlene had two failed marriages prior to Gerald, who already had a criminal record at age 13 for sexually abusing a 6-year-old girl. They were eventually captured, with Charlene accepting a plea deal for a reduced sentence. Gerald was found guilty with the help of Charlene’s testimony, who, with an IQ of 160, apparently had a photographic memory. She also claimed that she was also a victim and that she even tried to save some of them. Gerald was sentenced to death while Charlene was sentenced to under 17 years. She completed her sentence in 1997, changed her name, and has been living with her new husband in Sacramento.
