Aileen Wuornos had a childhood that seemed to have dictated her ultimate fate. She was molested at an early age, and had become promiscuous in school, exchanging sexual favors for cigarettes and food, among others. She eventually had a son whom she gave up for adoption, before being forced to live on her own, where she turned to prostitution and theft. Although she initially claimed it was self-defense, she was convicted of killing six men and sentenced to die. She was reported to have an IQ of 81, but this may not be accurate, as Wuornos has later stated her distaste for tests, including those which might make a case for insanity. She reportedly hurried the process for her execution, and in 2002, she was executed by lethal injection. Her life was the subject of the 2003 film, Monster.
