Well there you have it, the 13 black billionaires of 2019. The first black billionaire was Bob Johnson, an American media magnate in 2001. Canada’s Michael Lee-Chin made the list as well. By 2003, Oprah Winfrey joined them in the list, and eventually overtook them. Fortunes fluctuate because of different circumstances. For example, Aliko Dangote was worth much more in 2014 when his worth was estimated at $25 billion. Whatever the reasons, one thing is for certain…the billionaires club has only a few members of black African ancestry. With the worldwide disparity between the rich and the poor, maybe being a billionaire, of whatever race, should not be aspired for.
