Never Think Everyone Can Understand English
Much like its neighboring countries Germany, Switzerland and Italy, a majority of the locals speak English but never assume that everyone will know how. When in Austria, don’t go out without a way to translate a few usable phrases, whether you write it down on paper or you use Google translate or other similar apps. Whether it’s to ask where the nearest train station is, or the directions back to your hotel, it’s better to be prepared than lost in a country you’ve never been to before.
