Never Call Colombia “Columbia”
Many foreigners don’t realize the difference. Even though it was named after Columbus, Colombia is spelled with 2 O’s and not with a U. Locals get offended by foreigners who make this mistake, they believe that only an ignorant person will not know how to spell their country which they are proud of.
