Actually anywhere you go, this should always be a priority, especially if you move around often. This applies even more in Colombia, which has shocking statistics for road accidents. Aside from lots of inept drivers (particularly on motorbikes), locals are not cautious when crossing pedestrian lanes. So try not to add to the statistics, always be cautious, whether driving or walking.
