While Denver has many picnic sites for families and larger gatherings, do not proceed without first securing a permit. These permits are for safety reasons to avoid misunderstandings and are required to reserve a site for exclusive use of your party. Site capacities vary from 25 to 150 people for urban park locations, and for up to 300 people for Denver Mountain Park sites. Insurance is required for over 100 people.
