Know the First American
The city of Philadelphia is proud of the fundamental contributions the so-called “First American” has achieved in Philly. At age 17, Benjamin Franklin ran away to Philadelphia and helped jumpstart the country. Moreover, he has a pivotal role in establishing a fire department, the University of Pennsylvania and other civic organizations. To this day, the city pays homage to his brilliance as a political figure. He is everywhere, there is a bridge, a parkway, a science museum, a football stadium, a mall, parks, businesses, suburban areas named after him.
