The humble egg is one of nature’s most nutritious foods, and not to mention, one of the most versatile. While it has many benefits, it is still quite surprising that something so basic can be priced so steep at Whole Foods Market.

For those who do not know, one dozen organic eggs at Whole Foods have a price tag of more than $4; almost three times more expensive than what one can find at Trader Joe’s and almost twice as expensive than those being sold at Kroger.
