4. Fish

While fish can’t strictly be called organic, those being sold at Whole Foods are “special” since the grocery chain claims to be able to trace where they come from. This information allows consumers to decide for themselves whether the fish that they purchase have acceptable carbon footprints or have tolerable mercury levels based on where they were caught. However, this also means that people who shop at Whole Foods pay extra, $3 to $6 dollars more than what they would if they bought them from somewhere else.
