These days, there are people who still choose to hitchhike along state and national highways despite the fact that since 1979, around 700 hitchhikers have gone missing. And some of those were victims terrifying events that would make anyone think twice about getting picked up by a trailer truck driver. But at least one got lucky. In 1990, Arizona state trooper Mike Miller saw a trailer truck parked on the side of the highway. When he went to closer to see what was going on, what he saw sent shivers down his spine: a terrified woman, shackled inside the cab of the truck. Officer Miller’s discovery led to a series of events that would put an end to a case that authorities have been trying to solve for years.
