It should come as no surprise that an instance of violence is associated with Donald Trump at this point, but what is surprising is that his own campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, is responsible this time for the violence. On March 8th, he was seen “yanking” the arm of 28-year-old reporter Michelle Fields after she asked him a critical question concerning affirmative action. Though Lewandowski completely denied the allegations, he has finally been served with a court date and a notice to appear, as he is being charged with misdemeanor battery.

Following a conference at Trump National Golf Club, Fields and many other conference attendees were following Trump as he left, and that’s when she appears to have asked Trump a question while holding her phone up to record his answer. In the next moment, Lewandowski grabbed her arm and yanked her backwards, even coming between Trump and a U.S. Secret Service agent to do so.

Despite overwhelming evidence that corroborates Fields’ claims, including testimony from eyewitness Ben Terris from The Washington Post, video footage of the whole incident, and photos of Fields’ bruised arm, Lewandowski and the Trump campaign are fervently denying the allegations.

Lewandowski responded to Fields on Twitter, saying, “You are totally delusional. I never touched you. As a matter of fact, I have never even met you.”

Trump’s campaign released a statement in support of Lewandowski’s supposed innocence and said he is “absolutely innocent of this charge” and that “he will enter a plea of not guilty and looks forward to his day in court. He is completely confident that he will be exonerated.”

Donald Trump himself, after being asked by other reporters about the matter, said, “We have many Secret Service, you see some of them here. When we left, I spoke to them, nothing happened. This was, in my opinion, made up.” How quickly his own Secret Service agents “forget.”

Since the incident, Fields has resigned from Breitbart, the conservative online news website that she was a reporter for, because they refused to stand behind her on the claims. Ben Shapiro, Breitbart’s editor-at-large, also resigned, along with several other employees, because the site had “abandoned” Fields “in order to protect Trump’s bully campaign manager.

Finally, three weeks later, the police were forced the arrest Lewandowski because of overwhelming evidence and, hopefully, justice will be served in court on May 4th.
