36. Tripped to his death by his beard

In 1567, Hans Steininger, the man who held the record for having the longest beard in the world at the time, died when he broke his neck after tripping over his beard. He was running for his dear life away from a fire.

In 1919 in Boston, MA, a massive tank of molasses burst on a warm day, causing the deaths of 21 people after it sent a 25-feet wave of molasses running at 35 mph.
