According to <em>wired.com<\/em>, the \u201cmegatrove\u201d of information found by <em>Anonymous<\/em> was actually released by DDoSecrets (Distributed Denial of Secrets) on June 19, Friday. The significance of the date is that the holiday Juneteenth is celebrated on that day, which was when the United States abolished slavery back in 1865.<\/p>\n<p>According to the cofounder of DDOSecrets, Emma Best, <em><strong>\u201cIt\u2019s the largest published hack of American law enforcement agencies. It provides the closest inside look at the state, local, and federal agencies tasked with protecting the public, including [the} government response to COVID and the BLM (Black Lives Matter) protests.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Anonymous<\/em> usually concentrates its <em><strong>\u201cattacks\u201d<\/strong><\/em> on those that are known to abuse or misuse their power. But given just how shrouded they are in mystery, there is no way to truly know \u201cthe group\u2019s ideology or its size \u2013 beyond its tagline, <em><strong>\u201cwe are legion.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_224822\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-224822\" style=\"width: 730px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-224822 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/trueactivist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/police-officers.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"730\" height=\"411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trueactivist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/police-officers.jpg 730w, https:\/\/trueactivist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/police-officers-400x225.jpg 400w, https:\/\/trueactivist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/police-officers-640x360.jpg 640w, https:\/\/trueactivist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/police-officers-255x144.jpg 255w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 730px) 100vw, 730px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-224822\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ask Cybersecurity<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After the release of these highly confidential documents, DDOSecrets supporters, protestors and <em>Anonymous<\/em> users sifted through the files, finding a treasure trove of information about how the police have been tracking protestors, as well as \u00a0discussions about the anti-fascist group, <strong>Antifa.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Some even mentioned that the files held major bias already, explaining how the police described the well-known and notorious white supremacist, Richard Spencer, as \u201canti-Antifa\u201d instead of saying that <em><strong>\u201cAntifa opposes neo-fascist groups like those Spencer and his supporters belong to.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>One particular unclassified FBI memo sent to the local police departments sometime in late May said that \u201claw enforcement supporters\u2019 safety\u201d after finding a couple of tweets that discusses talks of destroying \u201cBlue Lives Matter\u201d merch. I\u2019ve seen a few comments about it being unlikely to uncover gross police misconduct, but I think those somewhat miss the point or at least equate police misconduct solely with illegal behavior. Yet <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DDoSecrets?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ddosecrets<\/a> is suspended over <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/BlueLeaks?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#BlueLeaks<\/a> and Twitter is actively censoring the link. Outrageous. I wish we could have done more, but I\u2019m pleased with what we did and that we continue to learn,\u201d Best explained.
