The vessel, planned for completion in 2020, will hold the title of largest yacht in the world. It will primarily be used by <a href=\"https:\/\/trueactivist.com\/wwf-warns-all-fish-may-go-extinct-within-next-30-years\/\"><span class=\"s2\">World Wildlife Foundation<\/span><\/a> (WWF) scientists, and will also be available for private charters. Proceeds from private charters will benefit research. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">&#8220;The REV will be a <a href=\"https:\/\/yachtharbour.com\/news\/norwegian-billionaire-to-build-181-6-metre-espen-oeino-designed-vessel-1669?src=news_page_bar_pos_1\"><span class=\"s2\">platform for gathering knowledge<\/span><\/a>&#8220;, explained Kjell Inge R\u00f8kke, owner of the REV, &#8220;I would like to welcome researchers, environmental groups, and other institutions on board, to acquire new skills to evolve innovative solutions to address challenges and opportunities connected to the seas.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">R\u00f8kke sits with a net worth of around $2.6 billion dollars and made his fortune from off-shore drilling. However, he hasn\u2019t forgotten his background in fishing and his love for the sea. On the topic, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rosellinisfour-10.no\/\"><span class=\"s2\">he said<\/span><\/a> \u201cI am a fisherman, and curious by nature. Resources in the oceans and on the seabed have provided significant value for society \u2013 and also for my family and myself. The yacht will be able to collect up to <a href=\"http:\/\/inhabitat.com\/norwegian-billionaire-is-funding-a-plastic-gathering-marine-research-yacht\/\"><span class=\"s2\">5 tons of plastic daily<\/span><\/a>, with a system to then melt it down. It will also combat overfishing and environmental crime due to extraction and <a href=\"https:\/\/trueactivist.com\/flammable-ice-could-replace-oil-and-gas-if-it-can-be-safely-mined-from-the-ocean-floor\/\"><span class=\"s2\">mining<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--Ads7--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The REV is being designed at the VARD shipyard with all the <a href=\"https:\/\/yachtharbour.com\/news\/norwegian-billionaire-to-build-181-6-metre-espen-oeino-designed-vessel-1669?src=news_page_bar_pos_1\"><span class=\"s2\">state-of-art equipment<\/span><\/a> necessary to facilitate marine investigations. In order to help generate funding for research, it will also be available for private charters, able to hold up to 36 guests and 54 crew members.
