Let\u2019s face it \u2014 Hollywood<\/a> is quick to portray all women as youthful vixens who never age, having rockin\u2019 bodies, and are able to kick some real butt. While this is empowering to young females, maturing women are often ignored and, as a result, the societal attitude that \u201caging is bad<\/a>\u201d persists. For this reason, we couldn\u2019t be more pleased that photographer Tony Ross<\/a> decided to explore the concept of what happens after a Disney princess lives \u201chappily ever after.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even though it may have been unintentional, Ross\u2019 artwork makes a powerful statement about the aging process that everyone goes through, as well as the beauty women exude even as matriarchs of their households.<\/p>\n

A noteworthy aspect of this photo shoot is that it features mother and daughter models to show princesses in young form and as older queens. Ross partnered with costume designer Nephi Garcia<\/a>,\u00a0or \u201cDesign Daddy<\/a>,\u201d for the photoshoot and sought to make the subjects appear as natural as possible. As MyModernMet<\/em> reports<\/a>, each \u201cPrincess\u201d and \u201cQueen\u201d is dressed in her character\u2019s signature garments. From a mermaid tail to a ballroom gown, each personality is instantly recognizable \u2014 another attribute which makes this series so enchanting.

\nRoss was persistent that the Queens in the series should be played by the younger models\u2019 mothers. Additionally, he noted that while the mothers were hesitant to wear the costumes, they eventually got into character mode and, as expected, ended up having a ball.<\/em><\/p>\n
